Below are some useful tools to help you reduce your holiday spending this year:

Start with a Plan

First, Plan, plan, plan! Start now and sit down and write what events you have this holiday season and what gifts you need to purchase. Then, under each event make a list of what you want to accomplish, such as spend less money, make it simple, and how much you want to spend.

Clip Coupons

Second, become a coupon clipper if you are not already one. Buy your Sunday paper and you will find coupons on products, coupons for $$$ off your purchase and daily or hourly specials that you may be able to take advantage of. You may also go online, shop and clip coupons. The 5 best online sites according to Smart Money are:

  1. Coupons.com
  2. Coupon Cabin
  3. Coupon Mom
  4. Retail Me Not
  5. Smart Source

Some of these sites offer an email newsletter to keep you updated.

Online Holiday Shopping

Thirdly, shop online. Shopping online saves time, money and effort, and it also stops you from impulse buying. Check out Amazon, eBay, and individual retail web sites. A lot of them will offer internet specials and free shipping during the holiday shopping season. You can also comparison shop without leaving your Houston apartment. Just check out:

Use these simple techniques and you’ll save on your holiday shopping this year. Not having to worry about spending too much money will make the holidays a little less stressful.
