Fall Crafts for Houston Apartments

by Sr. Editor on September 10, 2008

Fall will soon be in the air and summer will be just a memory. With the advent of cooler weather on the horizon, it’s time to think about seasonal décor and home accessories that will put you more in the fall mood.

Even though Houston doesn’t ‘feel’ the fall weather until the middle of winter, you can easy create a fall feeling in your home. With a few fall crafts, you’ll turn your home into a cozy, warm place to spend the autumn.

Fall means warmer colors. It’s time to take the bright colors of summer and tuck them away for another year. Fall means a lot of oranges, browns and reds. Think of all the colors found in places where the seasons change. Fall means warmth and you’ll do well to change your season décor to reflect the change.

Bring out your fall items. If you have autumn-themed pictures, pillow covers, place settings or any fall décor, now is the time to bring it out. Even if you don’t have fall art, you can bring the outdoors in by picking up pinecones or leaves (when they start to change) and place them in glass bowls for season décor.

Create a warm place to enjoy. Even if the outside doesn’t feel cooler, create a cozy space inside to make you feel like it’s fall. Put some logs on the fire, bring your furniture closer together, light a fall scented candle and put some tea on to boil. You’ll soon start to forget what the temperature is outside and feel warm and toasty inside.

Make fall art. If you have children, have them bring in leaves from the outside and stencil outlines of the leaves on paper. They can then color the leaves and you can either frame for a fall picture or hang up on the refrigerator for a kitchen fall craft. There are many fall craft ideas for kids. Pine cones are a great way to bring fall inside so pick some up and place in candle holders, bathrooms or bowls in the middle of tables (fill with fall potpourri for some added fall scents).

Houston apartments and homes will soon see the change from summer to autumn with some new fall décor. Even if the weather feels one way, home and apartment owners can create a fall feeling in their homes to help usher out the summer and bring in the holiday season.
